Back to school week

Ready for the bus the first day.

We had a good back to school week.  Kate started 4th grade and Thomas 2nd.  I had a great week with my class too.  I am a teacher in a Montessori school and have a class of 18 3-6 year olds.  It is my 3rd year with this class, so most of my oldest students have been in my class since they were 3.

After a busy week with school, yesterday we had a big day with Chris running a local 10K run, then Kate had softball tryouts for fall softball, then we did some antique shopping too.  I'll share some of my "finds" in another post.

Here are some pictures watching Chris run.

Happy Mother's Day

It's a busy time of year with school for me and the kids, softball season is almost over and we're all looking forward to summer and swimming and Nana coming to stay from New Zealand.

I made a nice little craft with the kids in my class for them to take home for their Moms for Mother's day.  Another teacher gave me these boxes that a parent had donated.  I painted them at home and then had the kids make a fingerprint ladybug, or some did caterpillars.  On the back I printed a little paper that says "Home is where the heart is, with love and kisses this Mother's day......."
Inside I cut a picture to fit (printed on regular paper) and glued it in using modge podge to seal it.  Then each child put a few Hershey "kissses" inside and wrapped it up.  They were very excited to take these home.

Thomas brought home this cute book, a few things in it like:

My mom can do many things!  I think she's best at
"workig at importint thigs"

My mom is as pretty as a
"Butterfly"

My mom is smart!  She even knows
"how to teach"

I like to tell my mom
"Shes the best mom in the univers"

And the funny one:
When my mom has free time she likes to
"lay on the couch"

"She is butiful and hugiebel"

To Nana / Mum in New Zealand - Happy Mother's Day!!!
And to my other friends and readers of this blog who are Moms, enjoy your special day.

new school year

We survived our first week of school. Thomas' favorite thing about kindergarten is riding the bus after school to his grandparents' house.

Excited the night before, sleeping with his favorite 'guys'.

All ready to go!

Kate was still eating breakfast before I had to leave for my school. She is doing pretty well with 2nd grade and we're all adjusting to more homework!

I have a great class this year, we only have 14 kids right now, and as it is a new class in the school they are all 3 and 4 year olds - some have moved from the toddler classes, and some are new to Montessori.

This weekend we're busy cleaning and organizing the house - we are about to put our house up for sale (and are looking to move closer to where I work). Hopefully we can keep the house clean most of the time now we're all out of the house during the week.
