Vintage nightstand

I found this little nightstand at Goodwill.  My daughter has a dresser very similar to this style.
It was a little dirty and the top was scratched up.  I gave it a good clean and sanded and painted just the top.  Maybe one day I will re-paint the whole thing a different color and the dresser too, but for right now I like this original color and details.

Here it is in Kate's room all cleaned up and with freshly coated top.
and her dresser which was one of my first "finds" when I really started getting into the garage sale / thrift store thing.

Summer fun

the kids have enjoyed having Nana staying with us from New Zealand.
we went to Hermann Park one day and rode the train
and saw Pinocchio at the Miller outdoor theater
Kate had softball camp last week
last weekend we went to the Bluebell creamery for the tour of the icecream factory
and to the Monument Hill state park in La Grange
and went to one of these "painted churches"
(pictures do not do this justice, it was so beautiful inside)

plenty of relaxing at home too.  Kate has been learning how to knit.

Molly has been getting lots of walks
and fun at the pool

How is your summer?

Another goodwill chair makeover

here is the before, only $2.99!

and the after with fresh paint and fabric

The paint was more leftover from my kitchen cabinets, and the fabric was an old IKEA shower curtain.
My other goodwill painted chairs are at the table by the window, it's my new sewing place for more summer projects!

I also made some pillow covers using the shower curtain fabric.  I got this idea from this post to use the holes that were for the shower curtain rings in place of button holes.  So after cutting to size and sewing on 3 sides then I just had to sew on the buttons, these were super quick to make!

this one I added a little trim to:

little desk makeover

this started out as this $20 table I bought from a garage sale and was using as a bedside table in Thomas' room
painting inside this week, my usual garage space is too hot!  I used the same paint / primer I used on my kitchen cabinets

I'm happy with the transformation and the color is the perfect match for Kate's reading chair.
and the after.  I also painted this IKEA chair, which was first black, then pink, and now cream.
I made these fun new pillow covers using fabric Kate picked out from Hobby Lobby

fun at the farm

Plenty of photos from this weekend away at the farm (see this post about the singer sewing machine we came home with).
We came home after a lot of swinging, fishing (Thomas caught his first fish!), playing softball, walking and visiting with family, and eating good Texas country cooking.
Home again with our Texas sized watermelon!
