As you can see, their favorite thing was posing by all the animal statues. We did get up close to the gorilla, look close in that picture and you'll see Thomas' reflection in the window.

American girl #2
We went to Dallas last weekend for a little spring break vacation. I took Kate back to the American girl doll store to pick another doll for her birthday present. She wanted to get Ruthie, Kit's best friend. And we were already in the Woodlands about an hour from home and she realised she left Kit at home :(
See this post from our trip to American girl last year.

Chair mini makeover
I am linking this post to a new blog I found today with lots of great home decorating ideas. Her blog is called Homebody Holly

I know it is Friday now and not Thursday but this fits to the thrift store theme.
I have had this chair for a couple of years, we bought it for an extra chair when my Mum came to visit, wow, I guess it was 3 years ago because Kate was turning 5 then, and now she is about to be 8!
The chair cost $9 at an antique/junk store. This is what it looked like earlier today(this picture is actually old, but I forgot to take a real 'before' picture):

and now with new black and white fabric ($4) from Hobby Lobby. I just put it right over the old fabric and cushion and stapled the back, if you look closely the corners are not perfect, but, I love the change.
I like the way it looks white, but I may paint the chair black?

Texas State Railroad
This weekend we went to ride the train, it was a 1.5 hour trip each way from Palestine to Rusk. It was a really nice and relaxing way to spend a Saturday. It was a Snoopy Valentine theme - they read the book and had Peanuts music playing and Snoppy came through the train, big fun for the kids, and Kate is finally not scared of "dressed up people"! They also gave out the heart headbands and on the return trip cookies and punch.

Snow!
pictures are in reverse order from this morning to last night. The kids had a lot of fun, it is probably the most snow they will ever see here.
We even had a little bit of a "snow day" - their school had a late start at 10am (so I got to go into work late too)
