Kitchen painting, done!

I'm adding this post to Metamorphosis Monday. To see more before and after pictures go HERE
Here is what the kitchen looked like before I painted the cabinets:

I am really happy with how everything turned out. I started with all the bottom cabinets and painted the inside of the doors too. By the time I got to the top cabinets which are pretty high and I had to stand on a chair to paint those I decided to just paint the cabinet fronts and not the inside of the doors too, who is going to open and look inside anyway?
It really lightened and brightened everything up. I really like how it frames the cabinets with our china and pretty things inside (I may still paint the inside of these cabinets at some point).

We are going to get knobs for the cabinets and drawers soon.....

It looks great! When we painted ours, I didn't do the insides either. Well, I started to on the bottom ones like you did and then gave up. Too much work! Your kitchen looks fantastic!

This looks great! I love painted cabinets...what a beautiful transformation! If you end up painting the inside, when I did mine, I painted the back wall of the cabinet a pale yellow, which was the color of my kitchen walls so the plates inside the cabinet would pop off the color a bit. The inside of your cabinets looks to be in great shape, so they look great just as you have them! Mine didn't look so nice inside, so I really needed to paint them. Thanks for a fantastic Met Monday posts! :-) Susan

You are lucky that your existing countertop worked so well with the old cabinet color, and works even better with the new! I just had my cabinets painted (yes, I will admit, I hired someone to do it!) and although the kitchen looks great, now I really want to change out my countertops (which are corian- they were top of the line when they were installed in '88 but now seem a bit dated).

thanks! We just moved into this house in April. The previous owners had installed the new countertops and back splash last year. The brown tones in the granite did look good with the wood cabinets, but the granite really contrasts with the light cabinets now, and the whole space is a lot brighter

Looks great! My kitchen cabinets, and well, all the cabinets in my house are painted white. Yours would look even awesomer ;) with pretty knobs and pulls. I'm on the lookout for some nice ones to put in my kitchen too.
